SomLaw M’ju Srae

SomLaw M’ju Srae (Sour soup, peasant style).

This dish similar to Mexican Seafood soup that I ate. 

Herbs: Limon grass, Lime Leaf, Galangal. Garlic, take it off the stove then garnish with Rice paddy herbs or Holy Basil.
Main ingredients: Prawns, Mussels, and Chinese water crest (Thraw-Gounn in Khmer).
Tamarind powder: Is the sour agent, and a big pot is recommended. Boil at high heat and made with.


Keep in mind; Mama’s cooking is done to the specific taste of the Homemaker who serves the family. Cooking & tasting to your specific taste.
1- Lemon grass, Lime Leaf, Galangal OR 2 Table spoons of Thai Tum Yum past into 4Qt. of water bring to it a boil.

2- Season your boiling water with
3 Table spoons of vegetable extract OR ¼ Tea spoon of MSG.
½ Tea spoon of sugar.

3- In goes the Mussels (let it boil about 2-3 minutes)

4- In goes the Chinese water crest (boil 2-3 minutes or boil to your liking tenderness)

5- In goes the Prawns, 1 Table spoon of Tamarind powder, and 3 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)

6- taste to your liking, and add whatever is needed.

7- Take it off the stove, then garnish with Holy Basil or Rice paddy herbs, whichever you prefers.
